Licensing a Dutch
Blueberry nursery

16 September 2018

Visiting Schrijnwerkers blueberry nursery in Holland is a treat for anyone associated with the blueberry industry. The family owned business traces its roots back to blueberries to 1969, yes next year will be their 50th blueberry birthday.

The company is owned by Leon Schrijnwerker, a guy who not long after you meet him, you realise is passionate about his blueberry plants and his business. Clear to me when spending the day with Leon is the importance of having access to the most modern blueberry genetics for his customers.
The addition of the two new varieties MegasBlue and Titanium, both new high chill, cold hardy blueberries are an important addition to his portfolio. These two varieties will offer blueberry growers many benefits from superb fruit quality, great flavour, high yields and good shelf-life. Just what the blueberry industry has been waiting for.

Licensing Schrijnwerkers is an important strategic move for Global Plant Genetics. Based on the plant quality I have seen at their nursery and the combination of these great blueberry genetics, I am convinced that European growers will be equally as happy in the future.
